Enough about me, How do YOU like me so far?
You would think that being brought to your knees by alcoholism and discovering Buddhism might be enough to lead me from arrogance to humility, wouldn’t you? I just celebrated the third anniversary of my last drink and subsequent ‘realisation’ that I am a Buddhist. A wonderful affair that coincides with my mother-in-law-to-be’s ‘Belly-button Birthday’. I have never seen a Pavlova rolled into a bun shaped before. We were graced by international guests and the cuisine was eclectic curry! There was blowing of candles , of course, and half the crowd imbibed responsibly whilst those who can’t, watched in awe.
The hundreds, nay, thousands of men and women who had made the event possible – the beautiful people who spread sobriety and enlightenment in abundant doses freely and without wish for recompense, were there in spirit and were not forgot. There secret reward is the peace and serenity they create as a by-product of their compassion and wisdom. May you be remembered.
